> Regarding the first condition: there are four kinds of Saṅgha property, as explained under the precept against stealing; two kinds of present \[property\] may be awarded by consensus; two kinds of permanent \[property\] are not permitted to be given at all; namely robes, bowls, needle-cases, and niṣīdanas, down to water-drinking vessels, which may be awarded according to their use. The "turning to slander" in the third refers to what the Prātimokṣa says: "The bhikṣus gave the Saṅgha's property according to intimacy and friendship." Regarding non-offense: the facts were truly so, and it was given according to intimacy; or if spoken in jest or by mistake.
