> Regarding the first condition: kṣatriyas are the foremost of the four castes; the Vinaya refers to receiving the throne through consecration, which is the "pouring water over the head" in the Prātimokṣa. If members of the other three castes are established in this manner, it is also called consecration. In the next condition, "in the same place": based on the statement below, "the king has not yet come out," it must refer to the bedchamber before an offense is incurred; beyond that, it should be light. In this land, entering the royal court without authorization is not permitted, so instances are also rare. Regarding the fourth, "entering the threshold of the gate": the commentary states, "Instituted as a profound precaution; an offense is determined upon initial entry, let alone seeing the jewel."
