> There are six non-offenses. First, receiving an invitation at will, and being content with less, explains and fulfills the meaning of the exception; although an unrestricted request is permitted, he does not crave it. In the passage beginning "If from...", five marks can be distinguished. Regarding "as in the Commentary": it says that the offense mark of this precept relies essentially on the original silk, urging an increase upon it; if he has them buy cloth, it belongs to the previous begging precept. Question: Urging an increase of a single thread incurs the offense, whereas begging a robe requires one strip to incur the offense (that is, the Daśādhyāya's four-cubit measure above); why is this different? Answer: In begging, the original donor had no intention, and when begging, it is left to whatever amount, so the meaning of vexation is slight; therefore, it requires one strip to incur the offense. In urging an increase, the intention and limitation were already fixed; failing to appreciate it, disliking the small amount, and demanding more involves the heaviest craving and vexation; therefore, any amount, large or small, equally incurs the offense.
