> In the fourth part, it first cites the distinct conditions of other schools. The \*Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā\* is precisely an explanation of the \*Daśādhyāya\*. That Vinaya allows an increase of one span in length, but no increase in width; the treatise master wished to show the intention of increasing the length, hence stating 'to allow lying down, etc.', which is completely different from the exempted conditions of the \*Dharmaguptaka\*. (Those who insist that one must increase cite this text as proof, because they have not seen the text below.) 'Augment' means to increase, and 'margin' refers to the outer edge. In the note, it first distinguishes the precept text; under 'According to...', it next indicates the number of feet. Under '\*Dharmaguptaka\*...', it next discriminates differences according to our school. The upper line points to our own school, as explained above. The differences are twofold: first, it only increases by half a span; second, both length and width are increased. The lower two lines discriminate against other schools. Our school is the \*Dharmaguptaka\*, and one cannot rely on others, hence it says 'there is no need to use it.' However, from 'adding threads along the woven border,' one can prove that it is patched after being severed, hence it says 'only use the method of increasing.' In the note, fearing that someone might wish to possess it, he therefore shows it again.
