> In the intent behind the institution: the first two lines show that the renunciant transcends the world as an unattached person, and is therefore like a visitor. The next two lines explain wandering without a fixed abode, stopping temporarily according to circumstances; thus the term 'temple' (si) is compared to an inn, meaning that it is like a lodge that receives guests; since there is no permanent residence, it is fitting in principle to receive and host them; hence it is said, 'this meaning is largely preserved here.' 'Therefore...' onwards reveals the institution: 'detailed' means comprehensive and complete. 'And so on' introduces the subsequent text.
