> At that time the Buddha asked the monks: "How do you train? What is training?" The monks said to the Buddha: "The Great Virtuous One is the root of the Dharma and the master of the Dharma. As the World-Honoured One just explained, we receive and uphold it, therefore it is called 'training'. Furthermore, there are three trainings: the training in higher morality, the training in higher mind, and the training in higher wisdom. By training in these three trainings, one attains the fruits of srotāpanna, sakṛdāgāmin, anāgāmin, and arhat; therefore one should be diligent and vigorous in training in these three trainings."
