> Ninth, general application and exceptions. While the other precepts all have exceptions, this precept alone has none, because the fault of anger obstructing the path is extremely profound. If one constantly cultivates the antidotes and merely loses mindfulness when confronted with an adverse object, according to the Yogācārabhūmi there is no offense, but there are no further exceptions. If based on the esoteric meaning, in the Liang Treatise the bodhisattva also gives rise to anger in order to scold the various afflictions.
