> Question: “Why did the explanation of the abode of embracing above not match these five individually to the text?” Answer: “In principle, they are all present: namely, ‘one should give rise to such a mind’ is because it reveals the antidote of non-loss of mind based on the meaning; ‘I must cause all to enter into nirvāṇa without remainder,’ etc., is the stated characteristic; this very ‘causing them to enter into nirvāṇa without remainder’ is the sustaining, and the sustaining mind is precisely the wish and vow; ‘in reality, no sentient being attains extinction’ is the established ultimate truth; ‘if there is the mark of a self, the mark of a person, the mark of a sentient being, or the mark of a lived soul, one is not named a bodhisattva’ is for manifestation, which is the corresponding samādhi and the gathering of the scattered mind.”
