- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [11.25](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1821.11.25)

> "The verse says \[…\] 22,000": this is the third, explaining the eight seas. The breadth of the first sea is 80,000; its length, measured along the inner perimeter of Mount Yugaṃdhara, on its four sides facing the outer edge of Mount Sumeru, is 80,000. Each number tripled, three times eight being twenty-four, makes 240,000 yojanas. The rest of the text is clear. According to the Sukhāvatīvyūha-sūtra, the water of eight qualities is enumerated as: first, limpid; second, pure; third, sweet; fourth, light and soft; fifth, moistening; sixth, soothing; seventh, when drunk it eliminates boundless afflictions such as hunger and thirst; eighth, having been drunk it definitely nurtures the faculties and the four great elements, increasing various superior wholesome roots.
