### [12.45](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1821.12.45)

> "Regarding 'The group-dwelling pratyekabuddhas \[...\] shift to being called solitary conquerors': this explains the group-dwelling pratyekabuddha. Because they follow along with a group, they are called 'group-dwelling.' Because they awaken on their own without teaching, they are called 'pratyekabuddha.' A group-dwelling pratyekabuddha was previously a person at one of the first three fruits of a śrāvaka; later, when attaining the fourth superior fruit, they independently realize the superior fruit without teaching, shifting to being called a 'solitary conqueror.' Another explanation says: they were previously at the first fruit of a śrāvaka; later, when attaining the three subsequent superior fruits, they independently awaken to the superior fruits without teaching, shifting to being called a 'solitary conqueror.' The former explanation is superior.
