> On the passage from "The treatise says" to "flows to the subsequent headings": this is a brief indication and explanation. That which arises by taking a distinct phenomenon as object is called a specific characteristic; that which arises by taking multiple phenomena as object is called a common characteristic. Concomitant ignorance among defilements of specific characteristics, because it is necessarily present, is omitted and not discussed. Although entities are manifold, there are five brief kinds: first, entity as intrinsic nature; second, entity as intentional object; third, entity as that which is bound; fourth, entity as cause; fifth, entity as subsumption. Here, it speaks of the third: entity as that which is bound. "Not abandoned" in the second line flows through to the subsequent headings as appropriate.
