- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [9.104](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1821.9.104)

> "After the moment of birth... the four links of contact and feeling": from after the moment of birth up to the stage of the future link of feeling, all the five aggregates in the intervening stages are collectively called 'old age and death'. Such old age and death is just like the four \[links\] such as name-and-form in the present life; the name 'old age and death' applies to all four stages. Stated in terms of possible occurrence, it is said that birth serves as the condition. From after the link of birth, the characteristics of old age and death become evident, so it is designated by this name.
