> Fourth, discussing identity and difference: Analytical cessation corresponds in measure to the bound entities; thus we know that upon each individual phenomenon there is only one analytical cessation. Furthermore, all non-learners realize analytical cessation across all defiled-and-conditioned phenomena. Hence we know that analytical cessation is necessarily realized in common. The Vibhāṣā, harmonizing the sūtras, states: 'Question: If so, why is nirvāṇa called an uncommon phenomenon? Answer: Although the substance of nirvāṇa is common, it is called an uncommon phenomenon with reference to its acquisition, because the acquisition of disjunction arises separately in the individual continuum of each sentient being.' Furthermore, citing a sūtra, it states that the Tathāgata's liberation is no different from that of other arhats; this is spoken with reference to the cessation realized.
