- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.119](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1822.1.119)

> The treatise says, "Or they are called 'having departure' (sanirgamana)… because of having that departure", which explains "having departure." The Nyāyānusāra states: "Or they are called 'having departure.' Because sentient beings wander in the destinies, drowning in saṃsāra, and nirvāṇa is desired for abandoning them, they are called 'having departure.' This means bringing to rest the constant flow through the destinies. If one has attained it, one will certainly not return. Because these possess departure, they are said to be 'having departure.' Just as one who possesses wealth is called 'wealthy,' this means that conditioned phenomena have the property of leaving behind. All conditioned phenomena are like rafts; therefore, even the noble path should be abandoned. As the sūtra says: 'Even the Dharma should be abandoned, how much more non-Dharma?'" In accord with the explanations of both treatises, nirvāṇa is called perpetual departure. Because all conditioned phenomena possess this departure, they are called "having departure." This possesses nirvāṇa because all conditioned phenomena, when reaching nirvāṇa, can all be abandoned. It is not like the dissociation from bondage (visaṃyoga), which belongs only to the defiled (sāsrava). Here, "having departure" pervades all conditioned phenomena; upon reaching nirvāṇa, all can be abandoned, which means possessing the nirvāṇa capable of abandoning \[them\].
