> "The treatise says... is designated a kulāṅkula." This explains the kulāṅkula ("clan-to-clan"). Advancing from abiding in stream-entry toward the subsequent fruit, up to the uninterrupted path that abandons the sixth category, is collectively called the fruit of and path of progress toward the once-returner. Within this there are two types: if one possesses the complete conditions, one is also called a kulāṅkula; if one does not possess the complete conditions, one is merely called \[one on the path of\] progress. The designation "kulāṅkula" is due to the presence of three conditions; about to explain the three conditions, it first marks them out and then explains them. This passage marks them out.
