> After this, eighteen \[intermediate kalpas\] all have increase and decrease: that is, increasing from ten years up to eighty thousand, and decreasing from eighty thousand years down to ten years. The twentieth kalpa has only increase and no decrease: that is, increasing from ten years up to eighty thousand, it is called the twentieth kalpa. In all kalpas, the increase does not exceed eighty thousand, and in all kalpas, the decrease reaches only a minimum of ten years. In the eighteen kalpas, one increase and one decrease together equal the time measure of the initial decrease and the final increase; therefore, the time measures of the twenty kalpas are all equal. These are collectively called the kalpas of duration after formation (this concludes the explanation from the ninth up to the twelfth line).
