> Regarding "all are common to abandonment by vision and cultivation": both the seven prides and the nine prides are abandoned by vision and cultivation. Those arising taking what is abandoned by vision as their object are called abandoned by vision; those arising taking concrete things (vastu) as their object are called abandoned by cultivation. As for prides abandoned by cultivation, when the noble one has not yet abandoned them, although he still possesses them, some may occur and some do not occur. That which does not occur is the single pride of self; the remaining six prides can occur for the noble one. The previous nine classes of pride also do not occur for the noble one; hence the verse says "has \[some\] abandoned by cultivation that do not occur", which refers to the nine classes of pride and the pride of self.
