> 'Momentary are only the last three': mind, dharmas, and mental consciousness are called 'the last three'. Only these three elements have a single moment: namely, at the first moment of the path of vision, in the category of the patience with the dharma of suffering, there is only this one single moment of mind that ultimately does not arise from a cause of similar species; because it is not an outflow, it is called 'a single moment'. Other conditioned dharmas are all outflows. The mind associated with the patience with suffering is called the mind element and the mental consciousness element: looking toward the subsequent, it is called 'mind'; looking toward the antecedent, it is called 'mental consciousness'. The dharmas arising together with feeling and the rest are called the 'dharma element'.
