> "No revulsion, and because of the sūtra": "No revulsion" explains that the form realm lacks the path of seeing. In entering the path of seeing, one must feel revulsion toward suffering; the form realm lacks revulsion toward suffering because of attachment to the bliss of concentration. "And because of the sūtra" is scriptural proof that the higher realms lack the path of seeing. A sūtra says: 'There are five persons (five non-returners) who penetrate here and achieve culmination there.' It is explained: 'here' means this desire realm. 'Penetrate' refers to the path of seeing being called 'penetration', because it penetrates the truths. 'There' means those higher realms. 'Achieve culmination' means obtaining nirvāṇa in that place. This sūtra does not say that they penetrate there; hence we know that the higher realms lack the path of seeing.
