> 'Apparitionally born, six, seven, or eight': at the initial moment of apparitional birth, one obtains six, seven, or eight faculties. 'Obtaining six faculties' refers to eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and life; this refers to sexless apparitional birth at the beginning of the eon, hence there are six faculties. 'Obtaining seven faculties' refers to heavenly beings and the like: with the six faculties as above, one \[either male or female\] is added. 'Obtaining eight faculties' refers to cases where there can be hermaphroditic apparitional birth in the wretched destinies: with the six faculties as above, both the male and female faculties are added.
