> 'In desire, all at once, ten, nine, or eight': in sudden death in the desire realm, ten, nine, or eight faculties cease at the very end. 'Ten faculties ceasing' refers to when a hermaphrodite dies suddenly: the five faculties beginning with the eye, female, male, life, mind, and equanimity cease at the very end. 'Nine faculties ceasing' refers to a person of single sex dying suddenly: from the ten above, one—female or male—is excluded. 'Eight faculties ceasing' refers to a sexless person dying suddenly: from the ten faculties above, both female and male are excluded, because they are sexless.
