- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [7.14](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1824.7.14)

> From "Conception arises conditioned by names and marks" onwards, the third part contemplates the aggregate of conception. This is also divided into three: first, doctrinal explanation; from "Like a shadow" onwards, the second is metaphorical explanation; from "Conception is also like this" onwards, the third synthesizes the metaphor. Refuting the aggregate of conception is done directly through the gateway of lacking self-nature, whereas the earlier refutation of the aggregate of form was through the gateway of impermanence. "Arises conditioned by names and marks" means that, conditioned by names of good and bad, one grasps marks of fine and ugly. Furthermore, conditioned by the ear hearing names and the eye grasping marks, it exists dependently on conditions; lacking intrinsic nature, it is empty.
