- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.102](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1828.1.102)

> It is simply because investigation and reflection have the distinction of inquiring or not inquiring, coarse or subtle, and their substances are not the three trainings and have no superior benefit; therefore the word "with" is used to reveal their states. The substance of absorption is \[part of\] the trainings and has superior benefit; merely saying "stages of absorption and non-absorption" reveals the distinction, so there is no need to say "with." Since, like investigation and reflection, the substance of mind also lacks particular superior benefit and is not a dharma of training, the word "with" is also used to differentiate it, speaking of the stages with mind and without mind.
