七慢，依五法起，謂上中下我德生，如五蘊論及決擇皆通見修斷，憍體則貪染著自法醉逸為義，慢對他而心舉，是二差別如唯識第六說。

> The seven arrogances arise based on five dharmas: superior, middling, inferior, self, virtue, and birth. As stated in the Pañcaskandhaka and the Viniścayasaṃgrahaṇī, they all pertain to abandonment through seeing and cultivation. The essence of conceit is greed, its meaning being intoxicating indulgence and attachment to one's own dharmas. Arrogance is an elevation of mind relative to others. The distinction between these two is as explained in the sixth fascicle of the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi.
