> In the fifth passage there are four parts: 1. sound; 2. wind; 3. bright and dark form; 4. immediate succession of large and small. The sound element is the four great elements that are the cause producing sound. Constantly revolving wind inwardly refers to inhalation, exhalation, and so forth; outwardly it refers to the wind that sustains the world, the solar disc, and so forth. Master Ji says: Constantly continuous dark form refers to the intermediate space between worlds, not speaking of the kalpa of emptiness; hence we know that it does not exist there; or this meaning is not correct, for it is described as distant and open and thus is not given the name 'dark'. Now it is explained: The dark form of the kalpa of emptiness is extinguished when the world forms, and arises again after the world is destroyed; hence it is not called constantly continuous; in the intermediate space between worlds, whether during formation or destruction, there is always intermediate form, hence it is called constantly continuous. As for the statement, 'Furthermore, bright and dark form should be known as an increase in aggregation upon visible form': this means that at the place where an aggregation of visible form previously existed, if bright form arises, that aggregation then increases; because bright form increases, that aggregation becomes clearly manifest; if dark form arises, that aggregation also increases; because dark form increases, it obstructs it so that it is not seen, or even if seen, it is unclear. \[Regarding\] a large aggregation arising immediately from a small aggregation: like a small child growing into gross and large form and so forth, or like a small tree becoming a large tree and so forth. A small \[aggregation\] arising from a large one: like fire burning large wood to produce very little ash, or when passing from flourishing prime into declining old age, and so forth.
