> As explained in the fourteenth chapter of the Abhidharma \[samuccaya\], or regarding the basis and so forth as analyzed in the twenty-three virtues: concerning also inducing the fruit of samsaric transmigration that accords with the bodhisattva's practice, Jing says: "When the bodhisattva practices in the causal stage, he transmigrates in birth and death for a long time; through cultivating giving and the rest, he attains the faultless, supreme fruit that accords with the bodhisattva's practice." Dharma Master Ji says: "It means that if untainted practices are compared to tainted fruits, they serve as predominant conditions assisting the inducement; if tainted practices are compared to tainted fruits, they are the direct inducement."
