> The Tripiṭaka Master explains: Regarding "far removed from all mind, intellect, and consciousness, and from recollections and conceptual constructions," there are two explanations. One says: discriminating the intrinsic nature of all dharmas, as well as the conceptual distinctions of the mental consciousness, is called "recollections and conceptual constructions." Another says: "far removed from all mind, intellect, and consciousness" means being far removed from the mind-kings of the eight consciousnesses; "conceptual constructions" means being far removed from the conceptual constructions of the mental factors. As for "without craving or clinging," the translators made an error; it should read "without obstruction." The Commentary explains that it is superior in three matters to the lower stages: First, effortless spontaneous practice, as the sūtra says: "because of having no craving or clinging." The Tripiṭaka Master says: This generally clarifies the wisdom of non-birth, which is effortless and unobstructed. As for "equal like space," the Commentary says: "Second, the notion of pervading all dharmas." The Tripiṭaka Master says: This clarifies the subsequently attained wisdom, which universally takes all dharmas as its object like space. As for "entering into the space-like nature of all dharmas," the Commentary says: "Third, entering into tathatā, immobile spontaneous practice." The Tripiṭaka Master says: This also refers to the fundamental wisdom taking as its object the space-like, equal tathatā.
