> In the state of non-forgetfulness, 'always recollecting, whether matters...' and so forth: Jing says: 'Whatever fundamental undertakings are engaged in are called "matters." "Places" are the locations traversed. "Manner" means the expedient method of performing the activity is just like its original foundation. "Time" means that throughout all time passed, nothing is forgotten. The arhat's deportment and other mental states, being accompanied by afflictions and not supple, sometimes lose their proper place in the bodily and verbal actions they give rise to.' Ji says: '"Manner" refers to the expedient means appropriate to the occasion when teaching and transforming sentient beings; because it accords with reason, it is called "manner (tathā)"; furthermore, because the expedient means are just so (tathā), it is called "manner."'
