- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [14.296](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1828.14.296)

> The Tripiṭaka Master says: The first is the approach of emptiness, the middle three are the approach of wishlessness, and the last one is the approach of signlessness. Question: Why is it that the second, which refutes the self, is said to be wishlessness? Now it is re-explained that the first two are emptiness, because the practice of emptiness subsumes the practices of emptiness and non-self, while the middle two are the approach of wishlessness. Jing says: The first three are emptiness, the next one is wishlessness, and the last one is signlessness.
