- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [15.480](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1828.15.480)

眾苦生起者：謂有緣生，生緣老死者，出眾苦之體。即識名色等乃至復得苦名者，五支種子昔在識中曾名引因，今時生果名生老死。然此種子同生死體異熟，亦受苦名。

> Regarding 'the arising of all sufferings: conditioned by existence is birth, conditioned by birth is old age and death', this identifies the entity of all sufferings. That 'consciousness, name-and-form, etc., up to again obtain the name of suffering' means that the seeds of the five branches formerly in consciousness were previously called inducing causes; now when producing the result, they are called birth, old age, and death. However, these seeds, sharing the same entity with birth-and-death as vipāka, also receive the name of suffering.
