> Tai explains two meanings. One says: If formulated in terms of type and intrinsic nature of liberation, neither-perception is solely tainted; if formulated in terms of being within the bodily continuum of one who is liberated, it should be said to be of two kinds. Another says: If formulated in terms of the type of contemplative insight into principle, neither-perception lacks it and thus should be said to be tainted; if formulated in terms of the continuum of contemplative insight into principle by subsequent wisdom, it should be said to be of two kinds. Master Ji said: "Type" means that within its own stage there is no taintless type that abandons defilements. As for "being called taintless also because of liberation from afflictions," this refers to subsequent wisdom.
