This also has two kinds. First: if, due to conceptually grasping that there is an imagined dharma-self through awakening and discrimination following names and words, one further through awakening and discrimination following names and words imagines the nature of grasping at dharmas accomplished by it—such as the Hīnayāna verbal teachings grasping at dharmas having an intrinsic nature, and so forth—this is called the first grasping. However, because the text brings up the awakening imagining of personal grasping to explain analogously the awakening imagining of dharma grasping, it is not directly discerning the awakening of personal grasping, because that was already explained previously. Second: if one has not yet uprooted the seeds of the bondage of signs, when one has apprehending among the signs by the power of the seeds, it is called the second \[grasping, which is\] dormancy.
