> Since this text says 'not yet freed from satkāyadṛṣṭi', we know that relying on the worldly path, one only suppresses the afflictions of cultivation and does not suppress the afflictions of view. It also says 'toward all formations of lower and higher realms, their blended self-entities, without observing their differences', so we know that in the Mahāyāna doctrine, the view of self also takes both one's own realm and other realms as cognitive objects. However, it takes them as objects comprehensively, not separately; only when the body is in the lower desire realm does it take the higher realms as objects. Hence the text above says: 'Due to being born herein.' However, we do not see any text stating that when the body is born in a higher realm, the view of self takes the lower realm as an object. Examining the text immediately below for oneself, it appears that when born in a higher realm, one also takes dharmas of the lower realm as self; thus it says 'comprehensively conceives as I, or conceives as mine; due to this cause and condition, although ascending to the peak of existence, one later regresses.' The Tripiṭaka Master says: 'For one whose body is born in a higher realm, the body also takes dharmas of the lower realm as self. Just as the Viniścaya text states that greed of a higher realm takes a lower realm as an object, this is also like that.'
