瑜伽論記 3.37

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.37](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1828.3.37)

> Regarding ‘karma of non-action’ (不作業): Jing says: ‘It refers to an intentional karma of the mind arising abruptly, which is not the preliminary preparatory intention meant to initiate body and speech, and thus lacks the initiated principal two karmas of body and speech.’ Bei records two explanations: One says that karma created by a conceptualizing mind is called ‘karma of action’, while karma created by a spontaneous mind is called ‘karma of non-action’. The other says that karma created by an alert mind is called ‘karma of action’, while karma created by a confused and disordered mind is called ‘karma of non-action’. Another explanation is: karma of action generally includes the manifest and unmanifest karma of the preparatory and principal paths of action that are not yet extinguished and not yet abandoned—this is called ‘karma of action’. That is, the seeds of the two karmas, both preparatory and principal, whose manifest and unmanifest karma are already extinguished and already abandoned, are called ‘karma of non-action’, because they are not accomplished and lack superior function.
