Toward the first class one gives rise to the idea of being free from delusion; toward the second class one gives rise to the idea of being free from hatred; toward the third class one gives rise to the idea of being free from greed; and causing them equally to be free from evil is called equanimity. This adduces the object of loving-kindness to encompass the other three.
