> Answer: Because they are general and particular fruits, they should not serve as an analogy. Jing says: Now, although in the Mahāyāna there is no text stating this, reasoning indicates that in the fortunate destinies, superior wholesome \[karma\] induces feeling of equanimity; because the ālaya\[vijñāna\] is the general retribution, it also induces the equanimity retribution of the six consciousnesses. Lower wholesome \[karma\] induces joy and pleasure because it is a particular retribution. In the unfortunate destinies, superior unwholesome \[karma\] induces the equanimity feeling of the fundamental consciousness; because it is the general retribution, it also induces the equanimity feeling of the six consciousnesses; lower unwholesome \[karma\] induces painful feeling because it is a particular retribution.
