- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.189](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1828.5.189)

> Establishing the four assemblies of the Tathāgata among the human realm: first, because they are the most sovereign, namely kings, who are kṣatriyas; second, because they are worldly fields of merit, namely brāhmaṇas, who on account of their many pure practices are acknowledged by the world as fields of merit; third, those whose use of wealth does not depend on others, namely great householders; fourth, those who have cast away all worldly wealth, namely śramaṇas. Because all these belong to the Buddha, they are called the assemblies of the Tathāgata.
