> Among the four realms and states of the stage of non-samāhita: next is the second, explaining the non-concentrated states. The Commentary states that it reverses the preceding and is easy to understand: in essence, it consists of the entire desire realm and all dispersed dharmas in the upper two realms. However, observing the meaning of this treatise, among the twelve indeterminacies, the seventh consists of the first five mental applications of the upper realms, the ninth and tenth are the seven mental applications of the upper realms, and the eighth consists of the defiled dharmas of the upper realms. Thus, this stage does not merely reverse the preceding stage, but also encompasses all dispersed dharmas of the upper two realms.
