- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.98](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1828.5.98)

> Increasing by three has thirty gates. The statement "ten aspects: destroying life, and so on": the word "destroying" applies generally downward through the ten unwholesome actions, as their meanings are interrelated. Based on this, the gates, seeds, and roots are clarified as the initial gate; offensive speech is called destroying. Regarding "purposeful activities": speaking improperly concerning proper activities is called frivolous speech.
