奘法師云：此解不然，準大品經，唯斷一二品為中間人，令有四種，須陀洹依何異說名為家家。興法師云：謂若預流果人得斷三品勝預流果名為家家，彼既無勝屬於不定不名家家。

> Master Xuanzang says: This explanation is incorrect. According to the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, only those who sever the first or second grade are intermediate persons. If there were four kinds, on what divergent explanation would a stream-enterer be called a kulaṃkula? Master Xing says: It means that if a person of the fruit of stream-entry succeeds in severing three grades, being superior to the fruit of stream-entry, they are called a kulaṃkula; since \[the former\] have no superiority, they pertain to the indeterminate and are not called kulaṃkula.
