> Master Juan says: Undergoing births in the desire realm and attaining the fruit of non-returner is called indeterminate; if one enters the body of a noble one and thereupon enters parinirvāṇa, this is called parinirvāṇa in the present life. In truth, this should be stated, but it is omitted from discussion among the twenty-seven persons. Traditionally it has been handed down that the five non-returners are used to show the distinction between sharp and dull faculties. The Tripiṭaka Master says: All five kinds of non-returners possess the distinctions of the six types of gotra faculties, making it difficult to definitively determine sharp or dull.
