> In explaining the first phrase, regarding 'if deluded about their cause, skill in the stages and fruits': the gate of the eighteen realms properly takes the seeds of the eighteen realms, as the gate of cause constitutes its meaning. The Abhidharma\[-samuccaya\] states: 'Possessing the eye realm while not achieving the eye, and so forth; therefore, one deluded about cause should contemplate the realms.' Regarding 'deluded about the abiding place of conditions': the gate of the twelve sense-bases is based on the gate of sovereign conditions and objective conditions generating consciousness; therefore, one deluded about conditions should contemplate the sense-bases.
