> "Agitated and scorched by the wind" in the explanation of the eight causes and conditions of alteration: this refers to a great wind blowing and fanning wet clothes and the like, meaning wet clothes, or sometimes wet ground, or crops and so forth, where a great wind fans away the moisture, causing them to dry up and become desiccated. The character 𥌁 (pronounced rapidly with the initial fanqie of 'dian') is like the worldly expression: 'this is extremely dry and shriveled (𥌁)'.
