> In the first part there are three: The spiritual power of the noble ones refers to the six supernormal knowledges. The first five are shared with ordinary beings and heterodox traditions; the sixth belongs exclusively to the noble ones. Being able to fully possess the six is named the "spiritual power of the noble ones." According to the commentary on the \*Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra\*, although a bodhisattva still has residual traces (vāsanā), the exhaustion of active defilements is termed the exhaustion of taints, which means attaining the supernormal knowledge of the exhaustion of taints according to one's degree. Second, explaining the spiritual power of dharma: the Bodhisattvabhūmi only lists the name, and the text found here—from "dharma" down to "prajñā" and so forth—flows below. Third, regarding the explanation of congenital spiritual power, Jing says: If explained in accordance with the Hīnayāna, because one has previously cultivated specific provisions of merit, one attains numerous virtues such as the innate knowledge of memory arising at birth, which are co-born with the body and naturally enable one to recollect past events; this is called congenital power. Thus, distinct from the six supernormal knowledges, there is congenital power. Hence, below in the extensive explanation of the five kinds, it explains congenital power: naturally being able to recollect all past birth events, and being completely able to endure prolonged great suffering for the sake of benefiting sentient beings. Furthermore, being born in the Tuṣita heaven, and even down to the shaking of the earth and falling of stars at the time of the Mahāparinirvāṇa—such events are congenital spiritual power, not the power of supernormal knowledge. Alternatively, the retributive body induced by the bodhisattva's previously accumulated provisions has eyes that can see far and ears that can hear far—which is the purity of the six sense-faculties in the \*Lotus Sūtra\*—even being able to know past abodes and so forth; this is named congenital power.
