> Under explaining supernormal powers, where it says, "the supernormal powers possessed by an ultimate bodhisattva bound to one birth or in his final existence": Ji says: It means that for those dwelling in the Tuṣita heaven there is only this or that subsequent birth, and with the exhaustion of this single birth one is called "one bound to one more birth." Or "in his final existence" means having already been born in the desire realm, in this very body he accomplishes the path; because this body is the final existence among bodies of birth and death, it is called "final existence." In addition, by this reason the bodhisattva seated on the site of enlightenment is directly explained: it refers to sitting under the bodhi tree up until not yet having accomplished the path, which is called the site of enlightenment. There are three preceding points; below it concludes with the immeasurable, and explains the meaning of transformation: it must rely on things with intrinsic nature to alter their shape and substance. If by the power of concentration a thing is suddenly manifested where there was no thing, that is manifestation, not transformation. If that is so, how is the emission of light called transformation? This too is transformation: that is, with respect to a small light previously existing in one's own body, transforming it to make it large so that it fills the realms of the ten directions, or transforming a short light to make it travel to a distant place.
