> In the fruit of great power there is also the fact that whatever words one issues are all trusted and accepted. However, because their underlying causes are distinct, that one's words are all trusted and accepted is also discussed distinctly according to the cause. If bodhisattvas themselves have capacity and power, but do not properly establish the sentient beings to be transformed, they do not act in accordance with their own affairs, and thus the benefits they produce for others are not called blazing, and so forth. According to the preceding fascicle, mere self-benefit is an obstacle for a bodhisattva; pure benefit to others is the bodhisattva's proper affair. Here it is also like this: if one has capacity oneself but has not yet transformed sentient beings, within one's own affairs it is not called acting in accordance, and toward others it is not called blazing. If one lacks capacity oneself, yet is well able to establish the sentient beings to be transformed, because one is able to transform others, this is a bodhisattva's affair performed in accordance; yet because one lacks personal knowledge and capacity, toward others it is not called blazing, and so forth. Because one possesses the power of wisdom and is able to mature those creatures, it is called blazing.
