> Regarding the treatise's explanation of reality universally accepted by reasoning, where it says: "Those capable of coarse investigation, capable of subtle examination, abiding on the stage of investigation and examination" and below: this means that just as in the desire realm there are people who at times do not give rise to coarse or subtle examination, if a person does give rise to this coarse and subtle examination, they are called 'one capable of coarse and subtle examination' and so forth. If one contrasts the desire realm with the form realm, they are called 'those who abide in investigation and examination'. Again, it is said: 'Those capable of coarse and subtle examination' clarifies persons at the precise time of giving rise to coarse and subtle examination; 'abiding on the stage of investigation and examination' refers to persons in whom investigation and examination are fully matured. 'Dwelling in the position of ordinary beings' means that because noble ones abide in the uncontaminated, they are not extremely distracted and do not engage in much disputation; because ordinary beings are very distracted, they often delight in disputation, hence it is stated solely with reference to those dwelling as ordinary beings. Furthermore, although noble ones possess the seeing of the truths and have inference, perception, scriptural authority, and so forth, they possess them only to a minor degree because they have already realized them. Ordinary beings have not realized them at all and frequently generate inferential cognition; therefore, under reality established by reasoning, it largely clarifies ordinary beings' inferential reasoning as universally accepted with respect to dharmas.
