> The treatise explains the seven names within vast offerings; the above is this. "Offerings of great quantity" means presenting inexhaustible material wealth. "Exquisite offerings" is the third; moreover, it is the general category of offerings of material wealth and reverent devotion presented as above. In general terms, taking the things mentioned above: offerings of great quantity is the first; exquisite offerings is the second; and so forth, down to having a pure mind and intense superior resolution being the seventh. Master Yuan says: "If bodhisattvas \[make offerings\] to the Tathāgata, that is the first; to a caitya, that is the second; and so forth, down to material offerings that are manifold and exquisite, etc., being the third; in person, the fourth; not in person, the fifth; performing it oneself, the sixth; having others perform it, the seventh. 'If with a pure mind', etc., explains the arousing of the aspiration above." \[However,\] the purport of this interpretation is flawed, and it also contradicts the sense of the text. Why are there seven? Here vastness is being clarified, with the intention focused on the mind of offering and the material objects. To take \[offerings made to\] the Tathāgata and caityas while oneself seeking bodhi is incorrect, because those are the objects to which offerings are made. All the various masters agree on this. Now the Great Master relies on the second interpretation, taking \[great\] quantity as the first, exquisite wealth as the second, and so on, down to the pure mind as the seventh.
