> In the treatise's explanation of the nineteen sufferings, the first eight come from among the previous fifty sufferings; the latter eleven sufferings come from among the latter fifty-five sufferings. Question: Why do only this many sufferings come, while the others do not? The explanation says: They are taken from the great and severe ones to serve as the objective sphere of great compassion; thus they are stated in terms of the predominance of suffering, and also according to those augmented within a single category from which they come. Taking the objective sphere of great compassion from within them, one should examine and interpret the text above separately, as I cannot quote them all.
