In this way, the bodhisattva...', and so forth: this means that the gold of the previous bhūmi was not yet exquisitely smelted; thus, when smelted at one time and weighed it was heavy, and when smelted again it weighed slightly lighter, the weight being unequal. Now in this bhūmi, when weighed it remains equal, having reached exquisite perfection.
